GENERAL SUMMARY: 

Position supports the manufacturing process by the set-up and support of preparing invested molds, melting and pouring titanium alloy through the use of vacuum melting technology and equipment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Mold receiving, inspection, cleaning, and preparation.
  2. Burnout furnace loading, start-up, shutdown, and general maintenance of burnout.
  3. Melt furnace set-up, maintenance, and shutdown.
  4. Melting, which includes cleaning between melts, transferring molds, alloy/skull changes, mold removal.
  5. Lathe operation for parting electrodes, prepping stubs and welding electrodes by TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) process.
  6. Operates forklift and overhead crane.
  7. Assists in the training of other Foundry Operators.
  8. Perform maintenance to keep a clean and trouble free foundry.
  9. Maintain and file melting documentation.
  10. Responsible for safe work practices by adhering to safety rules, safely operate all operating equipment and tools, identifying and reporting any safety problems.
  11. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Knowledge and understanding of Foundry and Quality Operating Manuals and Procedures at it pertains to the job functions.
  2. Follow written and verbal instructions and pay close attention to detail.
  3. Work well with limited supervision.
  4. Work in a safe conscientious manner; adheres to safety rules.
  5. Communicate both orally and in writing to co-workers and Supervisor.
  6. Work with hands and posses a good mechanical aptitude.
  7. Ability to work varying shifts and overtime as needed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of vacuum technology and mechanical aptitude preferred.  Good math skills a plus.

PHYSICAL DIMENSIONS:

Ability to work with hand and power tools. Ability to write, stoop, bend, and reach to perform daily job functions. Ability to exert up to 95 pounds force to lift and move molds and fixtures needed in and out of melt furnaces.
