Education:                

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and may be substituted by experience.

Able to meet deadlines and be accountable for quality/ quantity.  Able to work flexible hours with a history of dependability as demonstrated with strong attendance record.  Comfortable using a team approach to problem solving.  Have strong sense of urgency.  Individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently.  Work Experience:    

Minimum of 1 year experience as an operator in a manufacturing environment. Previous foundry experience a plus. Maintenance experience beneficial.

 Principal Area of Responsibility:       

A Foundry Technician is responsible for setting up and casting molds to SOP, EP, and engineering specifications.  Stock correct supplies for next shift, melting alloy to specific temperatures, and prepping molds.

 Specific Duties:

  • Must be able to operate all vacuum furnaces - equiax, D.S. and single crystal - and be able to accurately record all necessary information. 
  • Ram crucibles on all furnaces, change over on D.S. susceptors/coils and melt coils. 
  • Perform all responsibilities of the foundry apprentice. 
  • Must be able to perform all duties according to S.O.P.’s, Engineering Procedures and Special Lot Instructions. 
  • Meet the specific requirements of the efficiency standards. 
  • Ensure that the Foundry Department’s high standard of housekeeping is met. 
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all production processes and materials. 
  • Schedule employees to effectively meet production needs and ensure vacation and other time off consistent with plant policies. 
  • Organize work for smooth operations. Ensure that required documentation is maintained. 
  • Perform other duties as designated the supervisor. 
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.

  • The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.
