Effective early February 2016, Berkshire Hathaway, led by chairman and CEO Warren E. Buffet, acquired Precision Castparts Corp.
The coop will perform engineering duties associated with providing mechanical engineering support which may include: maintenance, equipment / designs / purchases, modifications troubleshooting problems, failure analysis and overview of mechanical systems.
Objectives - the intern will understand the following;
Providing support and accepting project assignments (design, maintenance, repair, improvement and modification of melt shop and raw material plant equipment in the following areas: * Specific detailed co-op projects will be assigned and agreed upon with co-op student in advance
- Power/Motion transmission (gear boxes, drives, screw jacks, couplings, etc.)
- Hydraulic and Pneumatic Systems
- Vacuum pumps and components (valves, seals, etc.)
- Structural fabrications (i.e., decks, supports, etc.)
- Designs/Sketches of parts/components
- Safety and Environmental projects
- Lubrication requirements, techniques, and product selections
- Material handling systems
- Cooling water systems
- Furnace pumps
- Shears
- Develops project design strategy within financial budget guidelines.
- Submit design to vendors for quoting.
- Develop budget for submission with a capital proposal.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities/assignments and responsibilities simultaneously.
Enrolled in a 4 year college Mechanical Engineer program
MUST be able to commit to 6 months
Must have a 2.5+ GPA
Must be capable of working in a group
Ability to lift objects up to 35 pounds if needed
Must be able to think quickly and take action
Full Relocation is authorized for this position.
