Occupational Summary

Support total plant operations; including productivity and quality initiatives activities through: operator training, corrective actions, team oriented problem solving, new customer/product launch, regulatory and compliance, customer/vendor/third party audits, and customer engagements.

Must have the ability to monitor, analyze, and report plant metallurgical data for compliance to applicable specifications. Actively lead core quality assurance and quality control functions that include testing, SPC data for key customers, process improvement; policy creation/updates, and procedures and work instructions required to support Nadcap and process improvement activities. 

Hands-On position that requires frequent and expected interaction/communication with all levels of plant operations, quality personnel, process planners and machine/process operators.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Lead team members and drive corrective action and continuous improvement initiatives as necessary or prescribed by plant senior leadership team

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Engage in all areas of plant quality operations, documentation control, regulatory and compliance, and customer interactions – including communications, corrective actions, product launch, and verbal customer engagements.
  • Create and maintain detailed process/technique sheets/work instructions; describing the preparation, set-up, and application of coating/finishing/post coating processing of customer parts and production hardware.
  • Engage and lead all forms of audits; work to make the audit experience and results highly effective and beneficial.
  • Engage frequently on shop floor with front line team members; identifying performance/quality gaps, developing interim and long term permanent corrective action, and ensuring / verifying solutions are fulling executed across all shifts.
  • Identify and define operator controlled variables (OCVs) and revise existing written instructions to document.
  • Provide technical guidance and support while assisting in the development of approved repairs/dispositions
  • Coordinate the approved repairs/dispositions with company quality department while ensuring product visibility with customer service department
  • Facilitate, monitor and document continuous process improvements with all production department team members.
  • Assist quality personnel with corrective action requests, internal audits and compliance with customer and company procedures.
  • Oversee compliance with Federal Aviation Administration and European Aviation Safety Agency regulations, policies, and procedures. Maintain the Air Agency Certificate(s), Ratings, Operations Specifications, and associated documentation including rosters, manuals, procedures, airman certificates, and internal audits (excluding Drug & Alcohol and Training programs).  Function as liaison during customer and regulatory surveillance. Identify and resolve requests for corrective action resulting from surveillance.
  • Personally observe safety and security procedures and proper use of equipment and material.  Actively promote culture of safety.

 

Education and Work Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in an Business/Engineering/Science discipline or combination of education and equivalent work experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience in the quality sciences with demonstrated work experience in the and special focus in aerospace/automotive/heavy manufacturing industries.
  • Excellent leadership, written and verbal communication skills. Willingness to escalate issues as expected by plant leadership.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Office programs.
  • CAD/CAM experience big plus.

 

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Continuously required to move about the facility.
  • Occasional moderate lifting of parts and material.
  • Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors and temperature variations.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye and hearing protection and safety shoes.
