Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for ensuring the efficient production of goods managing production control, customer service, supply chain and the staff in each department. Responsible for coordination of the manufacturing, commercial and technical teams to deliver legacy parts and development programs on schedule and budgets as promised to the customer and shareholder alike.  Direct areas of impact are on plant wide scheduling, loading and capacity management to achieve both target thruput goals and departmental budgets. When recovery plans are required the production control manager both orchestrates and ensures reporting to the customer on the strategy and execution of those plans. The production control manager must be immersed in the overall vision of the facility growth strategy, supporting customer inquiries into future constraints and opportunities, as well as the details of daily operational metrics.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Plans and schedules production activities and ensures effective management and supervision of production lines.
  • Monitors production practices and setting schedules as required.
  • Works out material and human resources as needed.
  • Responsible for overseeing inventory management.
  • Oversees and supervises processes of receiving and dispatch of goods from plan; keeps records of entire inventory stock of the manufacturing facility.
  • Oversees staff to coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and transporters, managing and supervising all shipping and receiving activities.
  • Works with management to communicate goals and execution of policies and goals of the organization.
  • Promotes and follows safety protocols and state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Timely launch of production and development orders, addressing barriers to delivery through all operational areas.
  • Manages on-time material delivery; provides guidance to direct reports on complex delivery issues.
  • Continues to improve supply flow while reducing inventory and costs.
  • Owns, generates, and verifies departmental metrics; provides input regarding metrics under development.
  • Audit daily production plans to ensure adherence to customer schedules.
  • Provide the sales team with concise narratives on delivery issues and plans for timely recovery to ship commits.
  • Act as the voice of the customer in strategic decision-making scenarios including production planning, staffing adjustments.
  • Creates and monitors action plans to address and resolve departmental issues.
  • Manages department employees, budget, costs, and resources.
  • Ensures timely delivery of products at the best value possible.
  • Maintains good customer service and seamless reordering systems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or another related field highly preferred
  • 7-10 years of production control experience required, aerospace highly preferred
  • Must have strong Microsoft Excel and generic MRP experience.
  • Broad knowledge of the specialized field of production control plus related knowledge of accounting and procurement practices
  • Must have a solid understanding of data processing as it relates to production control applications.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with all levels of employees, management, vendors, and customers.
