Staff Engineer

Position Summary

As a Staff  Engineer you will be part of a dynamic technical team driving manufacturing efficiency and productivity in a plant environment. You will apply relevant engineering knowledge and hands on experience to technical projects while developing innovative and cost-effective ways to improve safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Primary duties include planning, developing, evaluating, and conducting current state analysis and leading the implementation of technical projects towards future state objectives.

 

Technical:

  • Participate in the concurrent engineering process with customers
  • Responsible for preparing design specifications, requirements compliance, and customer interface on production information for manufacturing
  • Responsible for manufacturing process review, router preparation, and shop floor work instructions in line with organization’s Quality Management System (QMS) and manufacturing standards
  • Utilize industry best practices to design gating and processes to maximize part quality and cost efficiency.
  • Plan and manage part metallurgical and dimensional qualification.
  • Utilize knowledge to understand the impact of all aspects of the manufacturing process on dimensional control. 
  • Use analytical tools to identify process improvement opportunities and participate in tooling and fixture design.

Problem Solving:

  • Responsible to select, adapt and implement solutions to a wide range of problems using logical and analytical engineering techniques that align with best practices.
  • Driver of conversations and redirecting as required to solve problems and achieve goals and objectives.
  • Be responsible for managing projects and implementing solutions that drive to an annual cost reduction goals

Communication:

  • Frequently collaborate and communication with various levels of the organization including production employees, supervisors, peers and subject matter experts.
  • Present to internal and external stakeholders on various topics reports complex in nature to various members of leadership.

Leadership:  

  • Lead cross functional teams, which could include customers and vendors.
  • Resource for entry-level engineers and act as a solid team contributor.
  • Responsible for managing your project budgets and keeping your projects on track.

Autonomy

  • Independently work to identify your own targets for projects.

 

Experience & Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technical Science field
  • 5 years of experience in engineering in a manufacturing environment

 

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in engineering principles and disciplines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with various levels of the organization
  • Demonstrate a high degree of objectivity and integrity in the evaluation of staff and engineering related problems

 

Desired Skills:

  • Broad general knowledge of materials science, engineering, manufacturing processes, and investment casting technologies.

 

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
