Wyman-Gordon is a worldwide supplier to the aerospace and industrial gas turbine markets. We hold quality accreditations for all of the major airframe and engine manufacturers for both civil and military applications. Wyman-Gordon creates rotating closed-die forgings which are critical for aerospace and land-based gas turbines.  Wyman-Gordon also manufactures structural forgings for airframe, nuclear, petrochemical, power generation, and space applications.

 

Location Profile:

Located in South Gate, Dickson Testing Company, Inc. is a full-service destructive testing laboratory serving aerospace and metallic producers worldwide. Our laboratories serve our customers with metallurgical, mechanical, corrosion, and chemical testing services. In support of these services our facility provides complete specimen fabrication, cut off services and heat treat capability.                  

Position Summary:

Working under direct supervision, the Clerk completes shipping and receiving tasks such as loading and unloading trucks, verifying packaging slips and order contents, performing visual inspection, as well as packaging product for either outside processing or finished goods. The Clerk moves shipments to the intended area in a timely manner and moves production material, between departments, on an hourly basis.

  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
  • All functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable Company policies and procedures.
  • In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of Company policies and procedures, employees are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives.
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving, supply and delivery services, verify receipt of shipment with purchase orders making sure items received conformed to requirements specified on the purchase order as well as quantity ordered, and record any discrepancies.
  • Schedule and coordinate delivery and pick up of all material to and from customers.
  • Organize storage of remnants and test specimens.
  • Package product per best practice, including crating heavy/large shipments if required
  • Reads shipping notices, and other specifications, and inspects product to determine size and shape of container, materials to be used, and types of supports and braces to be used.
  • Counts items to be packed to ensure compliance with shipping orders.
  • Moves container to shipping area, and moves lumber, paper, and other wrapping supplies to crating area using forklift or other appropriate material handling equipment.
  • Expediting operations and jobs by communicating with various departments, as needed, e.g., Operations, Customer Service and Quality.
  • Under supervision, set daily work order priorities, move, stage, pack/unpack, open/seal, and gather materials, crates, boxes, parts, equipment, and other production items as needed to support efficient, timely, and orderly daily production flow.
  • Support production by assisting with organizing the workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequence and lead times (i.e., Dispatch List).
  • Conferring with department supervisors and leads to determine status of lists.
  • Support manufacturing by moving material (e.g., test specimens) between departments on an hourly basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills:

 

  • This position demonstrates packaging skills such as part protection, verify packaging information, boxing, taping, wrapping, stenciling, banding, weighing, etc.
  • All shipping and receiving clerks will be forklift certified and may be expected to demonstrate basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work with basic carpentry tools such as hammer, stapler, tape measure, nail gun, table saw, radial saw, circular saw, router and band saw.
  • Basic understanding of computerized MRP/Inventory system.
  • Understand and adhere to proper material handling practices.
  • Understand local manufacturing process and how to cooperatively work with production personnel.
  • Can work with multiple priorities and seeks supervisor's help when there are conflicts.
  • Maintain staging areas, packaging areas, and loading docks in a clean, orderly manner.
  • Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to learn and receive training.
  • Sense of urgency.

 

Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 0–1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment highly preferred but not required.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $15.00 to $22.00 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors.  For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
