Job Description  
            This position is an entry level position. The person seeking this position should possess initiative, a strong aptitude for mathematics and good mechanical abilities. Prepares most of the test samples for all analyses in the lab. This position is a dual position in the Metallography and Mechanical testing areas. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Log incoming production and audit samples.
  • Operate abrasive cut-off machines, metallographic mount presses and polishing equipment.
  • Perform various plant audits and process control:  i.e. heat treat evaluations, monthly cut-ups.
  • Perform metallography and mechanical testing including measuring samples, heat treat cycles, using microscopes, etc.
  • Calibrate analytical equipment.
  • Perform general housekeeping and maintenance functions in the lab.
  • Perform any additional tasks required by the MCL Manager, experienced technician or specialist.

  • Work safely to meet or exceed production and quality standards

  • Able to use precision measuring instruments, test equipment or other devices where interpretation is required
  • Understanding of basic math calculations
  • Understanding of unit of measure
  • Computer literate

Experience & Education                                              

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience as laboratory technician
  • An understanding of theory and operation of our analytical instrumentation
  • Able to use various equipment, tools and instruments is required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production setting is desired
