GENERAL PURPOSE 
The Trainer reports directly to the Production Supervisor. This position is responsible for ensuring all technical training needs of the department are met and emphasizing part quality and process integrity. This position will be an independent resource with expertise in the department processes. Responsibilities include conducting training courses (both group and personalized), evaluating personnel performance, requesting traveler changes, internal auditing, updating tech cards, and other continuous improvement activities.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•    Know, uphold, and abide by; relevant regulations; plant policies, procedures, guidelines; Cardinal Rules of Safety; Cardinal Rules of Quality; Environmental, Health & Safety rules and regulations.
•    Partner with department leadership in training new employees to ensure they receive adequate and standard training to fulfill their job duties
•    Assist in administering qualification/certification tests for department.
•    Create and update tech cards for the department that assist with and reinforce training conducted
•    Validate that the content of the work instructions can be and is performed as written.
•    Request traveler changes as necessary to make certain travelers match up with actual work performed and meet all applicable customer requirements. 
•    Validate any work instructions given to the department are accurate, complete, and follow all PCC San Leandro documentation and work instruction standards
•    Participate in corrective actions to determine permanent, systemic solutions
•    Participate in auditor training and become certified internal auditor
•    Communicates issues effectively and in a timely manner with Supervisor, Product Development Engineers, and Quality group
•    Continuously assess internal procedures relating to the department for accuracy, and follow up with training if department employees are not meeting the requirements 

OTHER GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES 
•    Work in close partnership with managers, supervisors, leads and other employees in a collaborative manner to achieve company goals and objectives.
•    Know, uphold, and abide by all related regulations and company policies, procedures, guidelines, rules and Lean manufacturing processes.
•    Stay in constant communication with the department on the floor to capture new best practices and standard work
•    Participate in audits, compliance testing and projects.
•    Run trials and collect data as necessary for Engineers. This includes responsibility for maintaining integrity of process experiments and other projects for Engineers running through the department.
•    Identify and work projects that reduce work content and scrap in the department. 
•    Fostering good 6S habits for the department, including leading cleanliness initiatives 
•    Assist maintenance with developing Preventative Maintenance procedures for major equipment.
•    Assist in consumable management such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), etc.
•    Performs other functions and duties as assigned.
 

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS: 
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  
•    At least operator level B in all/most processes in department
•    Proficiency in basic to intermediate computer use 
•    Minimum intermediate level of experience/expertise in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
•    Ability to be consistent in message, with part quality and process integrity as top priority
•    Able to communicate effectively with co-workers and others
•    Exercises a high degree of care in the handling of parts to avoid damage

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS:

•    Work is generally performed in a production environment.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:  sit for long periods of time; use computer to enter data; perform repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement.  
•    The employee is regularly required to: talk, feel the attributes of objects, grasp, push, and reach with arms or hands.  May be required to work with hazardous waste and to complete related Waste Management training
•    Work required near moving mechanical parts. 
•    Must be able to occasionally move objects of 35 lbs. and frequently move objects of 10-20 lbs.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $23.00 to $35.00 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors.  For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
