MISSION:

To operate all types of mold machines within department and specialize in the operation of these machines to produce complex and/or heavy wax pattern, soluble and gating parts. To inspect, and insure quality and dimensional integrity and adhere to P.C.P’s/S.O.P’s guidelines. To work with limited supervision.

LEAD DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains daily and weekly production output to meet the production plan and minimizes scrap.
  • Ensures outgoing patterns meet or exceed standards. Enforces work standards per company policy
  • Ensures proper training of direct reports. Determines standards of performance as a basis to review progress of personnel assigned.
  • Takes initiative on problem solving efforts
  • Reviews production and operating reports and ensures operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems are resolved to minimize costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Ensures documentation of standard operational and working practices is followed.
  • Collaborates on development and implementation of the structures and processes necessary to manage the organization's current activities and its growth.
  • Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined, understood, and executed.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company employees to foster aid promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

  1. Tooling Preparation:
    1. Objective:To accurately prepare tooling dies for operation
    2. Essential Job Functions:
      1. Assembles, disassembles, prepares and positions tooling dies for operation; Changes, adds, removes multiple inserts to produce large, complex parts.
      2. Adds chills and solubles per Technique Cards.
      3. Works with part engineers and others to develop, test and introduce new and re-designed tooling, methods and techniques into the production process.
      4. Determines molding sequence to meet production schedule, insure time and trained coverage for completion of mold and availability of necessary chills and solubles.
      5. Removes, cleans and stores tooling after operation.
      6. Performs minor repairs on tooling and machines as required.
    3. Mold Machine Operation:
      1. Objective:To operate complex molding machines accurately and efficiently using technique cards and established set-up procedures to maintain quality and dimensional integrity of the product.
      2. Essential Job Functions:
        1. Sets up, monitors and controls mold machine functions.
        2. Keeps dies and/or inserts clean during molding machine operations.
        3. Removes wax parts from die, inspects for defects, and trims.
        4. Places on proper fixtures in order to maintain dimensional integrity of parts.
        5. Ensures proper wax supplies are maintained for mold machine operation.
        6. Ensures necessary and appropriate types of chillers and solubles are produced and available for creation of complex molds.  If necessary, orders and produces chillers and solubles.
        7. Initiates and implements corrective action to resolve quality and tooling problems as needed.
        8. Develops and assists in tech card creation.
      3. Completes logs and records:
        1. Documents all modifications to process.
        2. Evaluates and maintains department supply inventory.
      4. Safety:
        1. Objective:to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.
        2. Essential Job Functions:
          1. Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
          2. Safely operates all equipment and tools.
          3. Identifies and reports safety problems.
          4. Develops methods to lift large/heavy inserts and wax patterns without damaging tooling or mold using hoists and/or assistance from other operators.

  OTHER ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Routinely trains less skilled operators as assigned.
  • Performs other tasks as directed.
  • May be required to handle hazardous waste.

TRAINING:

  • Training is provided on the job.
  • PCC’s Forklift Driving Safety Certification Training must be completed.
  • May be required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Skill in the wax molding operations and demonstrated eighteen to twenty-four months of competent performance of Mold Machine Operator A duties OR;
  • Any equivalent combination of training and work experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow specifications on Technique Cards, load cards and other types of special instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division)
  • Ability to work alone with limited supervision.
  • Written language skills required.
  • Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
