The Talent Development and Training Manager will provide leadership and support by driving talent development programs and effectively managing the training strategy throughout the Metals Division. This experienced leader will oversee, design, develop, coordinate, and run both large and small scale training and development programs for hourly and salaried team members.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Development

  • Provide support and guidance to Division HR Leaders on succession planning tools and processes to support the company’s Human Capital Planning programs.
  • Develop standard approach to Individual Development Plans for High Potentials, Technical Talent and those in formal development programs. 
  • Interface with Corporate development program participants within the Metals Division, assuring timely performance review feedback for participants and managing request process
  • Partnering with Engineering Leaders to manage and meeting requests for Corporate Technical Development Program (TDP)
  • Actively work to identify opportunities to develop tools and processes to support division wide talent development programs.
  • Partner with business leaders to establish and develop Career Maps for key functions within the Division

Training

  • Partner with key stakeholders to organize and deploy Division salaried training curriculum
  • Design, develop and implement effective processes for skills training, including technical/task training for many key hourly roles, development of leadership and teaming skills, and HR/compliance training
  • Select the ideal training methods or activities for a particular purpose and audience - online, video enhanced, virtual reality enabled, role playing, mentoring, on-the-job training, professional development classes, etc.
  • Market and promote training opportunities to employees in a compelling way that provides all necessary information regarding career path benefits and attractive communications methods
  • Conduct regular, whole organization needs assessments, identifying skills or knowledge gaps that need addressing
  • Utilize training best practices and education principles
  • Analyze and incorporate new training methods and techniques
  • Develop and prepare educational/training aids and materials, as needed
  • Evaluate effectiveness of training courses and provide summary reports to management, determining impact of training on employee skills and corporate goals
  • Collaborate with and connect internal stakeholders and liaise with various experts regarding instruction and training planning
  • Maintain a database of curriculum, materials, and training records
  • Organize and conduct train-the-trainer sessions for in-house experts/trainers
  • Oversee and maintain in-house training facilities and necessary training equipment

  • Competent in technology utilized in training industry.
  • Ability to recommend learning & development interventions after analysis of problem & consideration of alternative solutions.
  • Communicate effectively in visual, oral & written form utilizing required technologies.
  • Ability to design & implement systems to track training & the associated costs.
  • Self-directed; unambiguously able to own and drive your work

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • 7 years' experience in training facilitation for hourly & salary staff
  • 7 years’ experience in curriculum design & development writing of objectives-based training guidelines & the creation of tools.
