SUMMARY 

Repairs and maintains mechanical and hydraulic components of production machines and equipment such as metal fabricating machine tools, material handling system, and automated lubrication system by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:   This is not intended as a comprehensive list; it is intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed, and may be required to perform additional, position-specific tasks.

  • Works with industry-specific and high complex precision machines including but not limited to:  conveyors, lathes, mills, grinders, saws, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, pumps, gears, bearings, compressors etc.
  • Uses precision leveling and alignment tools in order to measure angles, material thickness and small distances with calipers, squares, micrometers, and other tools.
  • Fits bearings, align gears and wheels, attach motors and connect belts according to manufacturer’s blueprints and drawings
  • Assist with the dismantling of machines using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools
  • Fabricates and installs parts on equipment and machinery by measuring, cutting, and drilling
  • Assist with the unloading, inspecting, moving and setting of equipment into position using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks
  • Uses rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls and hand winches to move equipment / materials into place
  • Conducts preventative maintenance on conveyors, lathes, mills, grinders, saws, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, pumps
  • Experience with lathes, mills, and broaching, general shop equipment (drill presses. vertical/horizontal band saws, hydraulic presses) measuring and hand tools.
  • Ability to read and fabricate parts from blueprints and ISO drawings.
  • Able to align a pump and motor within 5 thousandths of an inch
  • Operate mobile equipment fork trucks and man-lifts

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities. This job reports directly to a supervisor.

Evaluation Required

Written Machine Tool Repair Skill Assessment (40 questions) 80% is passing.

Practical Exam upon successful completion of the Written Skills Assessment.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicant must be willing to work shift work and various shifts. No shift preference is guaranteed.

Prefer knowledge of Lathe, Mills, Cut Off Saw and Drill Press equipment. Machining, Hydraulics and Pneumatics experience are a plus. 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED and 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)).
