GENERAL SUMMARY: 

This position supports Manufacturing, Quality, and Engineering Departments in production as well as new product development through the use of analytical and metallographic equipment, procedures, and reports.

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Support manufacturing processes through the use of metallographic interpretation.
  2. Support Quality department through the use of analytical equipment, metallographic analysis, and lab reports.
  3. Maintaining and keeping accurate and orderly records and files, this includes archival of test material and cut-up castings.
  4. Support Process and Production engineering through the use of metallographic analysis and Special Test Request Reports.
  5. Ability to maintain and control raw material inventory and order all supplies through the

Purchasing Department.

  1. Responsible for safe work practices by adhering to safety rules, safely operating all equipment and tools, identifying and reporting any safety problems.
  2. Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  1. Willingness to learn new skills and be cross-trained in one or more areas.
  2. Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously.
  3. Strong organizational skills with the ability to work with limited supervision.
  4. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. This position will require the employee to be able to write and update procedures as needed by customer requirements.
  5. Must possess good interpersonal skills.
  6. Familiarity with customer material specifications and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  7. Ability to work varying shifts and overtime as needed.
  8. Willingness to train future employees due to expansion and company growth.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent, a strong background in Math, Chemistry, or Applied Science is beneficial.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to write procedures, reports, and follow verbal and oral instructions are critical, as well as the ability to communicate with co-workers and customers. Prospective employees must have the ability and mindset to be flexible in day to day activities, and keep pace with increasing throughput requirements. Potential employees must have the ability to exert seventy pounds of force to move objects.
