This position is a company-wide resource for PCC’s global payroll and is responsible for hands-on management of the corporate payroll. The successful candidate will be dedicated, trustworthy, detail oriented, and deadline driven with exceptional communication skills. They must be able to work under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude. This is a job for someone willing to take full ownership of their workload and interact with all levels of employees throughout the organization.

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Company-wide global payroll expert and key resource for maintaining payroll platforms, supporting the development and execution of consistent and efficient processes, and ensuring compliance with all PCC Policies and Procedures and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
  • Participate in payroll system implementations across the company
  • Responsibility for day-to-day Payroll processes for the corporate office payrolls including but not limited to:
    • Consistent, accurate and timely processing of payroll including maintaining payroll records, reports, and documents
    • Maintain complete and accurate tax documentation in each applicable jurisdiction for federal, state, and local tax inquiries, including items under research
    • Review and analyze quarterly tax reports from ADP for timeliness, accuracy, and issues to be addressed
    • Year-end processing of payroll including annual fringe benefits, W-2’s and other tax forms or government required documentation
    • Maintain time off accruals for employees via the ADP system
    • Quarterly validate 401(k) contribution and match details from a third-party vendor to payroll for accuracy and completeness
    • Prepare and maintain bonus calculations using parameters established by senior management
    • Support preparation of journal entries for payroll activity and account reconciliations for payroll related general ledger accounts
    • Prepare standard and ad-hoc reporting and analysis as needed by internal or 3rd parties including payroll data for budgets, payroll analysis for audit, and data for pension plans
    • Ownership of Corporate Payroll SOX controls including narratives, test step validation and development as needed, and ensuring controls meet companywide benchmarks
  • Validate data interfaces between Workday, Fidelity, and Mercer with payroll platforms to ensure they are processing on schedule, completely, and accurately. If data interface issues arise, coordinate to resolve timely while addressing process impacts until resolution occurs
  • Coordinate and execute system and/or integration file testing as applicable for regulatory changes, enhancement/system upgrades or configuration changes
  • Setup and design (as applicable) ADP Vantage security profiles including supporting the IT Help Desk user setup
  • Work in partnership with the Corporate Accounting team to ensure timely and effective support for the month, quarter, and year-end close processes
  • Support the accounting team to maintain accurate accounting records
  • Coordinate with both external and internal auditors to complete financial and SOX audits
  • Special projects and other duties as needed

Skills:

  • Must be able to process sensitive information in the strictest of confidence
  • Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, applicable federal and state wage and tax laws, benefits administration, and compliance regulations surrounding payroll
  • Knowledge and understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Strong attention to detail; accuracy of work is critical
  • A proactive, hands-on problem solver with solid analytical and process improvement skills with demonstrated ability to improve and streamline business processes
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills including ability to meet communicated deadlines and act as primary owner of individual projects, analyses, and processes
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables and functions)
  • Proficient with payroll software – Workday and ADP Vantage or other ADP platforms a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated ability to provide high level of customer service; interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy, and professionalism
  • Must be capable of leading and creating a positive work environment
  • Ability to work in partnership with all levels of employees up to and including senior management, and various worldwide PCC locations

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum 8 years of payroll experience and / or supervision for multi-state payroll processing and benefits administration
  • CPP designation preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting preferred
  • Experience working in an environment with SOX controls and auditors
  • Experience with Workday and ADP Vantage a plus
