Wyman-Gordon is a worldwide supplier to the aerospace and industrial gas turbine markets. We hold quality accreditations for all the major airframe and engine manufacturers for both civil and military applications. Wyman-Gordon creates rotating closed-die forgings which are critical for aerospace and land-based gas turbines. Wyman-Gordon also manufactures structural forgings for airframe, nuclear, petrochemical, power generation, and space applications.
Located in Ontario, CA, Summit Machine specializes in the rough and finish machining of super alloys for the aerospace, commercial, defense, power, and petroleum industries. Complex components include nickel base, titanium, stainless steel, aluminum and carbon steels with parts ranging in size from 2” OD – 120” OD.
Under close supervision, the paid Intern/Co-Op assists managers and/or staff in completing various projects and tasks as they relate to the operations functions. Projects may include quality improvement, facilities, capacity planning and process redesign, purchasing, production planning, data analysis, capital appropriate requests, project management, and/or equipment standardization.
• Assist with developing a robust interview process to include standard interview questions for all hourly positions using pre-defined skillsets and creating a tool to identify the best candidates in an objective manner (e.g. selection matrix).
• Enhance New Hire Orientation to include implementation of HR presentation and eliminate paper waste.
• Assist with revising the Employee Handbook to ensure policies are compliant with current federal and state laws and align with other PCC-WG local facilities.
• Assist with staffing & recruiting functions, such as creating requisitions, posting jobs, setting up interviews, drafting offer letters, and dispositioning candidates in the applicant tracking system
• Engage in outreach efforts to build relationships with local technical trade schools for possible apprenticeship program
• Maintain electronic training tracker by adding training records, updating certifications, and running reports to identify upcoming renewal requirements
• Respond to internal and external inquiries, such as employment verifications, wage garnishments, unemployment claims, FMLA requests, etc.
• Record management (data entry, filing, archiving, shredding, etc.)
• No experience required, however must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program from an accredited institution
• Must have completed a minimum of 20 credits with an average GPA of 3.0 or better
• Preferred major field of study to be related to the position.
• Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and exhibit professional behavior
• Compose internal/external communications
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, body language, listening)
• Data entry using MS Suite products and/or internal software systems
• Analyze statistical data and report metrics
• Perform other confidential administrative tasks as assigned
