1st shift Wax Injector

Title: WAX INJECTION TECHNICIAN

Status: Hourly

Shift: 1st - 12 hour shifts

Positions Available: 2

Reporting Relationship: Reports directly to Dept. 610 Supervisor / Wax Process Engineer

 

Location: Painesville, OH

 

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, and may be substituted by experience.

 

Personal Characteristics: Able to meet deadlines and be accountable for quality/ quantity.  Able to work flexible hours with a history of dependability as demonstrated with strong attendance record.  Comfortable using a team approach to problem solving.  Have strong sense of urgency.  Individual must be a motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently. Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.

 

Work Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience as an operator in a manufacturing environment. Previous casting experience is a plus. Must have experience with misc. hand tools, tables, racks, boxes, safety guidelines, feeds, grinders, inspection tools, etc. Must have experience with general gaging/calibration, calipers, height stand, bridge gage, etc. Must understand general principals of fluid dynamics, flow, pressure, viscosity, etc.

 

 

Principal Area of Responsibility: The Wax Injection Technician must be able to perform all operations and operate equipment efficiently in making wax patterns. Production of high quantity /quality parts is required with daily production quota established, works with glue, nail polishes, car wax, china marker, propane torches, hot needle, hot plate, exacto knives, and dental tools. Assist engineering in producing quality patterns. Assist engineering/maintenance on keeping presses running and within spec.

 

Specific Duties:

  • Incumbent must handle hazardous waste in accordance with the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and company policy.

  • Inject all wax patterns, gates and sprues (light and heavy dies).

  • Perform wax x-ray and wax wall functions.

  • Keep wax injection presses and melting pots filled with wax at all times.

  • Clean plugs.

  • Check quality on all patterns, gating and sprues.

  • Follow procedures.

  • Perform other duties as are designated by the supervisor.

  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.

  • Keeps work area clean, orderly and in a safe working condition. Follow all safety rules.

  • Run / supervise engineering trials, wax parameters, pins, cores etc.

  • Run wax press calibration checks, assist engineering in calibrating presses.

  • Perform and record basic press inspections, seals, filters, oil, etc.

  • Ensure EP’s/SOP’s are correct and followed, reduce operator variability.
  • Organize work area to optimize quality and throughput.
  • Any and all additional responsibilities as required or assigned.

Physical and Mental Demands:

  • Incumbent must physically and mentally perform the job demands as listed below.
  • The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.
  • Must pass Jaeger vision test.
