The Senior Production Planner maintains master production schedule and manages material requirements planning (MRP) activities to achieve 100% on time customer delivery through schedule adherence and ship targets, while optimizing production costs and WIP. The Production Planner will optimize job sequences and maintains an accurate and timely supply of raw material to the shop floor.  This position directly affects the flow of production and on-time delivery of products. Orchestrates workflow with stakeholders including: engineering, inside sales, estimating, manufacturing, quality, shipping/receiving manufacturing planning.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. (Other duties may be assigned.) 

  • Establishes master production schedule and maintains level loaded planning horizon
  • Compiles job package, including production router and coordinates with stockroom for kitting.
  • Releases jobs to manufacturing per customer order requirements.
  • Communicates priorities and changes to manufacturing and shipping.
  • Expedites jobs when necessary.
  • Re-schedules jobs upon request from inside sales department.
  • Complies with all company safety rules and regulations, including the use of company-provided personal protective equipment/supplies (i.e., safety glasses, hearing protection); maintaining a clean work area; using tools in a safe manner; reporting unsafe conditions or practices to supervisor or to the safety committee.
  • Represents production control department in meetings- stand-up, production, etc.
  • Engaged with new product introductions, including item setup and management of NPI milestones
  • Participates in continuous improvement activities
  • Participates in safety initiatives
  • Drives to root cause of material shortages, production misses, developing counter measures
  • Helps identify risks to production plan and resolutions to remove risk
  • Manage production orders: starts/release, date changes, orders splitting, shortages
  • Communicates with Sales on pull-ins, push outs, expedites, status, milestones, etc.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors Degree from accredited university preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Requires a minimum five years experience as a planner or master scheduler in an AS9100 manufacturing environment. 
  • Must have experience using an automated MRP system, maintaining system parameters and establishing relevant production schedules.
  • Ability to learn products and processes quickly. 
  • Must be proficient in data entry and inquiry skills.
  • APICS Certification strongly preferred.
