The Manager of EHS is responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating and maintaining the Environmental, Health and Safety programs and policies in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations. Provides technical safety/environmental support and record keeping. Monitors the workplace and trains employees to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a high level of internal control over environmental and safety processes and implements controls to manage business risks consistent with PCC expectations. This involves continuous compliance, auditing and certification of the environmental, health and safety processes to insure they meet PCC expectations and local, state and federal regulatory requirements. 
  • Develop written safety/environmental policies that are in compliance with government guidelines, regulations and laws.
  • Complete, submit and maintain records of all required environmental reporting.
  • Develop and implement general and department-specific safety programs for the company; develop annual Company safety goals and follow through with processing ideas and suggestions related to safety.
  • Identify Company safety training needs and develop/coordinate/deliver/document safety and environmental training for new hires and employees.
  • Oversee plant safety inspections and advise proper corrective action.  Interface with officials/auditors from regulatory agencies, consultants and other contractors.
  • Monitor employee use of Personal Protective Equipment and compliance with safety policies and practices.
  • Review injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation reports to determine causal factors and take appropriate action as necessary to resolve possible problems.
  • Direct all Environmental, Health and Safety management tasks conducted by the organization’s personnel.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain all written EH&S programs and policies in accordance with OSHA, Cal OSHA, USEPA and/or corporate standards and in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Develop, implement, coordinate and perform EH&S training requirements.
  • Provide technical EH&S support and information to required personnel.
  • Participate in process reviews (such as process hazard analyses, etc.).
  • Support corporate/plant engineering to implement engineering controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards.
  • Promote safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda, newsletters, and/or specific training programs.
  • Lead and serve on various EH&S related committees.
  • Provides technical supervision to determine whether pollution control considerations are adequate. Develops and recommends policies in the specific area of pollution abatement and environmental management.
  • Directs the maintenance of inventory of existing installations, including hazardous waste storage, and their status regarding compliance with federal, state and local regulatory laws.
  • Complies with all environmental safe practices and regulations. Reads all SDS’ and possesses thorough knowledge of all oil and chemical labeling and storage requirements.
  • Understand Federal and State (California) occupational safety, health and environmental regulations and monitor regulatory changes as they occur. Advise manufacturing plants and corporate staff of regulatory changes to ensure timely compliance.
  • Responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing a company's workers' compensation program. Implements all matters of the program, including claim investigations, settlements, and litigation. Establishes standards and procedures for all matters relating to workers' compensation.

Experience & Education

  • B.S. or B.A. Degree (preferably in a related, technical discipline.)
  • 5 + years related experience, (preferably in aerospace and manufacturing environments.)
  • Advanced use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook; other productivity tools. 
  • Safety focused & environmental safe practices and regulations.
  • Experience with Federal and State (California) occupational safety, health and environmental regulations and monitor regulatory changes as they occur.
  • Ability to comply with all environmental safe practices and regulations. Reads all SDS’ and possess thorough knowledge of all oil and chemical labeling and storage requirements.
  • Ability to conduct or assign the responsibility for handling the EH&S self-inspection and safety huddles in their areas of responsibility.
  • Ability for developing, maintaining, and managing a company's workers' compensation program. Implementing all matters of the program, including claim investigations, settlements, and litigation.
  • Ability to establish standards and procedures for all matters relating to workers' compensation.
