With more than 120 operations and approximately 20,000 employees worldwide, Precision Castparts Corp. is the market leader in manufacturing large, complex structural investment castings, airfoil castings, forged components, aerostructures and highly engineered, critical fasteners for aerospace applications. In addition, we are the leading producer of airfoil castings for the industrial gas turbine market. We also manufacture extruded seamless pipe, fittings, and forgings for power generation and oil & gas applications; commercial and military airframe aerostructures; and metal alloys and other materials for the casting and forging industries. With such critical applications, we insist on quality and dependability – not just in the materials and products we make, but in the people we recruit.

PCC is relentless in its dedication to being a high-quality, low-cost and on-time producer; delivering the highest value to its customers while continually pursuing strategic, profitable growth.

In 2016, Berkshire Hathaway, led by Chairman and CEO Warren E. Buffett, acquired Precision Castparts Corp.

MISSION:

To create computer programs and applications to verify specified dimensional

measurements on development and production parts in order to assure compliance

with customer specifications, and PCC and industrial standards, using Coordinate

Measuring Machines (CMM) and conventional measuring devices; to inspect new and

revised tools and fixtures to assure compliance with specifications; to prepare

layout and calibration documentation.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Layout Inspection

Objective:  to position and measure specified dimensional features of

selected casting, dies, wax molds and fixtures, and verify dimensional

integrity using CMM machines and conventional measuring equipment.

    Essential Job Functions:

  1. Identifies and interprets casting dimensions on blueprints.
  2. Constructs three-dimensional plane coordinates for measurement

        reference as defined on blueprints.

  1. Completes a variety of mathematical calculations, including technical

        math, analytic geometry and trigonometry.

  1. Measures and records specified dimensions using CMM's and conventional

        equipment to verify dimensional integrity.

  1. Prepares and reviews layout reports describing all measurements taken.
  2. Compares and analyzes measurements to customer requirements, PCC and

        industry standards.

  1. Evaluates measurement data with Engineering Departments and identifies

        probable causes of deviation.

  1. Inspects new and reprocessed tools and fixtures as directed to assure

        compliance with dimensional specifications.

    Other (Marginal) Job Functions:

  1. Conducts source inspections at tooling and fixture vendors; reviews

vendor inspection techniques to verify accuracy and completeness of

        vendor layout reports and inspections.

  1. Performs fixture calibrations; maintains complete and accurate records

        of calibration results.

  1. Computer Programming and Applications

Objective:  to create inspection programs, routines, macros, files and

reports; to manipulate and direct data files.

    Essential Job Functions:

  1. Uses low-level computer language and CMM operational codes to create

part inspection programs, routines, data base files and customized

        printed reports.

  1. Manipulates ASCII and IGES files and directs data transmission to

        requesting departments as required.

  1. Generates inspection data using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD).

        (LSBO and TBO only)

  1. Prepares inspection plans and creates automated CMM inspection programs

to inspect parts, wax patterns or fixtures per customer specifications.

  1. Documents CMM inspection program output and usage instructions.

  1. Safety

Objective:  to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

    Essential Job Functions:

  1. Adheres to plant and department safety rules.
  2. Safely operates all equipment and tools.
  3. Identifies and reports safety problems.

OTHER (MARGINAL) ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Performs other tasks as directed.
