is the world leader in superalloy, aluminum and titanium
investment casting. With applications in jet aircraft engines,
airframes, industrial gas turbine (IGT) engines, military armaments, medical
prosthesis, and many other industrial markets, we provide a wide
portfolio of high quality components, some as large as 100 inches (250cm).

high quality castings, even at significant volumes.
PCC Structurals also provides solidification modeling, in
house rapid
prototyping (including SLA), digital radiography, hot isostatic pressing,
precision machining and protective coating services. We operate 11
manufacturing facilities in the United States and Europe.
PCC Groton works with extremely complex castings, primarily for industrial gas turbines and other
energy applications. The team at Groton also manufactures vacuum and air investment cast
components for aero engine and airframe components. With 35,000 square feet of manufacturing
space situated in southeast Connecticut, the plant's capabilities include welding, CNC Machining
(turning, milling, drilling) Multi Axis and a full range of finishing and inspection
The Lab Technician is responsible for the metallurgical sampling, preparation, and evaluation where samples are prepared in accordance with standard lab procedures and customer requirements.
Prepares and analyzes metal chemistry samples received from the foundry using optical emission spectroscopy (OES). Verifies samples meet spec prior to foundry pouring molten metal into part molds.
Prepares purchase orders (POs) for samples to be sent to outside laboratories. Follows up test results/certificates of analyses from the outside labs and enters chemical analyses into the data management software system.
Prepares metal samples for visual analysis using standard metallographic lab equipment. Analyzes samples using light microscope and prepares reports.
Schedules preventive maintenance of the Optical Emission Spectrometer with the manufacturer.
Orders operating supplies.
A.S. in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemistry or equivalent experience
Minimum of one year experience in analytical lab environment.
Strong technical background, be very organized, and have good time-management skills.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to read and interpret customer’s requirements from the shop travelers, customers’ specification or from blue print notes.
Must be able to operate saw, grinding and polishing machines, and Optical Emission Spectrometer. We will train the right person.
