Summary

Provide focus, direction and leadership for the shipping/receiving function in New Hartford.  Supervise, direct activities, monitor productivity, measure progress and sets expectations regarding safety, productivity, quality and schedule.

 Essential Functions

 

Manages all shipping/receiving/trucking personnel to insure conformance to established metrics (Safety, TOC, Dock Targets, Productivity and Cost) and adherence to procedures (PC’s).

 

Reserve material for shipments and record documentation appropriately.

 

Provides training, coaching and leadership to subordinates.

 

Manages shipping schedules based on customer requirements as determined by Sales and Production Control.

 

Manage freight costs.

 

Provides direction to Production Supervision relative to receive/dock/shipping targets on a daily basis.

Education and Experience

Associates degree or higher along with 3+ years in logistics, shipping, distribution and/or transportation in a manufacturing environment. Understanding of transportation regulations/guidelines.  Computer proficiency in ORACLE, Discoverer and Excel

Manual dexterity sufficient for  handling materials and data entry; regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, squat, climb; lifts objects up to 50 pounds; visual ability to read, write, supervise, inspect facilities, materials, equipment, use computers; auditory ability sufficient for instructing/directing others, use office equipment (phones, beepers/pagers)

Work Environment – The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid and dry/arid conditions.  Frequently required the use of personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
