JOB FUNCTION:

 

The working lead position has been created to provide shift support in the areas of quality and productivity improvement.  This is a “hands on” position with the following key responsibilities:

 

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Capable of reading and interpreting alloy warehouse charge preparation operating instructions.  Type test alloy and roll-stamp ingots.  Cut and prepare charges to specifications.  Identify revert for accurate sorting.  Operate forklift as required.

Assist with loading/unloading of alloy to/from warehouse.  Will be required to receive and identify alloy per O.I.  Electronically enter data and generate barcode labels to identify charges accurately.

 

  • Provide training on fundamentals for Alloy Operatives to improve workmanship and productivity.

 

  • Provide cross-training to Alloy Operatives to support cell development and improve throughput.

 

  • Perform workmanship audits to verify training effectiveness and compliance to procedure.

 

  • Be a champion for the scrap and rework related issues.  Interface with manufacturing, quality, and engineering as required to ensure implementation of effective solutions.

 

  • Assist with administrative duties such as production schedule updates, time card review, and training documentation.

 

  • Assist supervision in maintaining proper product flow.

 

  • Assist and support the 6S program.

           

 

  •  Fill in for other operatives when there is a need.

 

  • Must be trained, certified and/or qualified to perform a minimum of 50% of the operations in area of responsibility.

 

  • Perform basic mechanical repairs/preventative maintenance as required.

 

 

EDUCATION:

 

High school education.  Some post-secondary education a plus.

 

 

EXPERIENCE:

 

  1. Must possess good interpersonal and communications skills.
  2. Proven track record working in a team environment.
  3. Significant experience in alloy processes.
  4. Previous training experience.
  5. Demonstrated experience in a minimum of 4 of the following 7 areas:
  • Alloy Receive and Inspection
  • Type Test Alloy
  • Revert Control
  • Cut and Prep Charges
  • Daily production requirements
  • Alloy Control Trainer
  • Preventative Maintenance
  • Daily Safety Inspections

 

 

INITIATIVE AND INGENUITY:

 

Moderate initiative and ingenuity.

 

 

EFFORT:

 

Normal effort required.  Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds consistently; higher weights with appropriate lifting devises.

                                                                                                                        

 

RESPONSIBILITY:

 

Responsible for productivity and quality of 4 – 10 Alloy Operatives.  Make sure parts meet quality standards.  Must be willing to work daily overtime and weekend overtime as necessary.
