The Accounting Supervisor produces and analyzes financial information critical to business interests as well as creates and presents reports to management regarding accounting data to enable knowledge based decision making and forecasts.
  • Participate in Period End closing activities by assisting the Controller in the production of reports, analysis and reconciliation related to Productivity, Manufacturing Order Variance, Scrap and Finished Goods Inventory
  • Track job cost, and labour, using an ERP system, making adjustments where necessary and preparing the necessary reports
  • Assist with preparing budgets, and additional reporting when required
  • Oversee the accounts receivable, and accounts payable functions including monthly balancing and closing sub ledgers, monthly collections reports, and bi-weekly cash requirements.
  • 2 day month end close, up to trial balance preparation and monthly reconciliation including (but not limited to) monthly journal entries for accruals, foreign exchange, debt schedules, intercompany accounts, fixed assets additions and depreciation, and banks.
  • Posting payroll entries (payroll summary provided by HR).
  • Preparation of year-end audit working papers including assets, liabilities, revenues and expenditures.
  • Work closely with the Internal audit team ensuring all necessary critical information is available.
  • Assistance with preparation of monthly financial statements and distribution of accurate and reliable financial reports.
  • Monthly accounts analyses and supporting documentation for all balance sheet accounts.
  • Assistance with monthly Labour and Overhead Report analyses and related corrections as required.
  • Assistance with monthly Material Variance analyses and related corrections as required.
  • MRP System utilities/maintenance for: foreign exchange rate, un-posted transactions, daily transaction posting, open/close periods.
  • Coach accounting team members, including review and approval of work assignments and training requirements of the team including completion of regular performance review.
  • Oversee the preparation of occupancy, depreciation, telephone, interest spreadsheets for projections and budget.
  • Collection and analysis of historical data to be used in the budget process.
  • Maintain financial security by researching and reconciling discrepancies; auditing and verifying documents; following internal controls; completing data backups.
  • Responsible for maintaining banks accounts and requests.
  • Stay current with all regulations, practices, tax laws, reporting requirements and industry trends.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in a leadership role
  • Minimum 3-5 years working experience in a manufacturing accounting environment
  • Degree or Diploma in Finance/Accounting required
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements
  • Advance working skills in MS Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
