Position Summary:

Responsible for performing a variety of engineering and engineering related duties to become familiar with the Engineering staff, Company programs and practices.  Performs tasks under the close supervision of experienced engineers with assignments screened for unusual or difficult problems and the appropriate techniques and procedures selected. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary engineering support to designated internal customers (e.g., business unit managers, department supervisors, and machine operators) by performing data analysis, revising drawings, auditing work instructions, and root-cause analysis and rework of non-conforming product
  • Focus on cost savings through cycle time reductions and yield improvements, initiating technological advancements and equipment optimization.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts using Lean/Six Sigma tools and data.
  • Pursue innovative safety improvements for the team;
  • Provide front-end engineering development of capital projects 
  • Responsible for department pipeline activities
  • Perform other duties as necessary or appropriate to the position.

Required Skills:

  • 2D and/or 3D modelling (SolidWorks, Catia V5, CADAM, 3DExperience preferred),
  • GD&T, CNC Programming (Esprit preferred),
  • Root Cause Corrective Action (Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing preferred)
  • Must have the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet expectations for required competencies in position, which includes: 1) safety, health, and environmental awareness; 2) business ethics and compliance; 3) technical/professional competence and quality & time management; 4) interpersonal relations and communication skills; 5) initiative, flexibility, innovation, and adaptability; 6) continuous improvement and problem solving; and 7) planning and organizing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point)

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred
  • 0 -5 years of engineering and manufacturing experience
  • Familiarity with automatic screw machines (e.g., Davenport, Wickman, Schutte) preferred
  • Metal manufacturing (e.g., Stainless Steels, A-286, Aluminum Alloys) preferred
