PCC Structurals is the world leader in superalloy, aluminum and titanium investment casting.  With applications in jet aircraft engines, airframes, industrial gas turbine (IGT) engines, military armaments, medical prosthesis, and many other industrial markets, we provide a wide portfolio  of high-quality components, some as large as 100 inches (250cm).
 
As the original business unit for Precision Castparts, you can count on PCC Structurals’ extensive experience and knowledge to consistently provide high-quality castings, even at significant volumes.
 
PCC Structurals also provides solidification modeling, in-house rapid prototyping (including SLA), digital radiography, hot isostatic pressing, precision machining and protective coating services. We operate 11 manufacturing facilities in the United States and Europe.
PCC Ogden’s diverse capabilities include 5-axis CNC machining in addition to manufacturing investment castings in both aluminum and stainless steel. With over 150,000 square feet of manufacturing space, we specialize in castings for aerospace, energy, medical equipment and commercial applications.
Primary Function:  Responsible for the removal of shell and runner systems.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
• Maintains lot integrity.
• Ensures paperwork is properly done.
• Helps other areas as needed.
• May perform one or more of the following duties regularly as needed:

Knock Out-
• Removes shell from runner systems using a hammer.

Wash Out-
• Washes shell off casting with high pressured water wash and sandblaster.

Cutoff-
• Removes runner system with band saw, hand held saw, plasma arc or chop saw.

Sandblast-
• Sandblasts parts per procedures ensuring adequate sand coverage.
• Loads specified grit of sand into sandblasting machine as needed.
• Performs preventative maintenance on sandblasting machine.

Kolene-
• Processes higher complexity parts in kolene salt bath.
• Loads parts in core dry oven to ensure parts are moisture and oil-free from high property unit.
• Loads parts into baskets per kolene techniques.
• Ensures parts are properly timed in kolene bath for shell removal.
• Properly rinses and neutralizes parts with citric rinse to remove excess salt.
• Sandblasts parts to remove traces of salt.

• High school diploma or GED

Minimum Job Requirements:
• Able to work in a production environment.
• Able to read and comprehend English.
• Able to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with tens and 100s.
• Able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs. continuously
• Able to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. (Foundry log, spectrometer reports, chemical analysis.)
• Able to wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. This may include wearing a respirator.
• Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Able to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Able to complete OSHA forklift certification through PCC Ogden.
• Able to complete PCC Ogden Breakdown certifications required in grade system.
• Near vision requirements are Jaeger J1 in one eye, at no less than 12 inches; or equivalent, or Jaeger in one eye, at no less than 16 inches.
• Able to communicate effectively with co-workers.
• Willing to work overtime.
• Complies with company and departmental policies and procedures, including company’s attendance policy.
• Able to meet individual productivity requirements.
• Able to meet internal quality requirements.
• May be required to take hazardous waste training.



Normal Working Conditions

• Works under indirect supervision following established practices and clear-cut policies in the performance of the majority of duties. Makes decisions when general instructions, established methods and clearly defined precedents indicate action to be taken, but refers unusual problems to Superiors.
• Environmental conditions encountered continuously are fumes or airborne particles, and work near moving, mechanical parts.
• Environmental conditions encountered frequently are working near or with hazardous waste.
• Typical noise environment for the work environment of this job is Loud Noise. (Appropriate ear protection is required.)
• Job duties may include management of hazardous waste generated in the breakdown process, including transferring hazardous waste containers to the facility’s hazardous waste storage location. Comprehensive hazardous waste training will be required annually for those Breakdown Operator employees engaged in hazardous waste management activities.
• Continuous required physical demands include standing, walking, using hands to handle or feel, reaching below shoulder level, balancing, talking and hearing.
• Occasional required physical demands include driving, pushing or pulling.
