Maintenance Superintendent Summary

Primary responsibilities are to coordinate and direct the maintenance activities of the facility through the effective and efficient execution of the scheduled maintenance orders that are developed by the area planners.  This includes, but is not limited to, maintaining good operating equipment by planning, scheduling, coordinating and overseeing routine maintenance and major equipment overhauls as well as coordinating preventative and predictive maintenance programs.

Essential Functions

Through understanding of plant equipment, processes and procedures.

SAP skills needed to properly schedule, plan and execute orders.

Fiscal and budgetary responsibility to control repair costs and service expenditures.

Must possess project management skills needed to manages several projects involving multiple resources simultaneously.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel & Outlook.  PowerPoint & Access optional.

Additional Responsibilities

Reviews timecards and approves hourly and salary payroll

Actively involved in assessing employee performance.

Monitors work practices, employee behavior and job performance to increase productivity, reduce costs and improve employee safety.

Coordinates departments training activities.

Qualifications

Competencies

Capable of managing multiple tasks on a daily basis

Capable of developing short-term and long-term objectives or policies.

Develops relationships and negotiates policies with Union Management to in accordance with the General Labor Agreement.

Capable of leading a team environment.

Demonstrated leadership, project management, facilitation, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Ability to interface with management, subordinates, and vendors as required to meet daily job requirements of maintaining property and equipment.

Education and Experience

Four Year Engineering Degree, Technical Degree or equivalent.

Ten or more years experience managing the maintenance function in an industrial setting preferred.

Five Years of experience in supervisory position.

Management experience in a Union Shop environment preferred.
