Precision Castparts Corp. is a worldwide, diversified manufacturer of complex metal components and products.  It serves the aerospace, power generation, and general industrial markets.  PCC is the market leader in manufacturing large, complex structural investment castings, airfoil castings, and forged components used in jet aircraft engines and industrial gas turbines.  The Company is also a leading producer of highly engineered, critical fasteners for aerospace, and other general industrial markets and supplies metal alloys and other materials to the casting and forging industries.  PCC Airfoils, LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Precision Castparts Corp.  The Airfoils Division manufactures complex highly technical investment casting for turbine engine applications used in commercial jet engines, military jet engines, helicopters and industrial gas turbines.

Education:               

B.S. degree in metallurgical, materials engineering or related discipline preferred.  Equivalent and relevant experience will be considered.

Work Experience:    

Minimum 2 years investment casting experience preferred. Good organization and interpersonal skills.  Experience with land-based turbine product is desirable.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.


Principal Area of Responsibility:          

Utilizing customer specifications, the Process Engineer develops and optimizes casting methods to manufacture single crystal, directionally solidified and/or equiaxed industrial gas turbine blades, vanes and related parts to meet customer and production requirements.


Specific Duties:

  • Champions the development of specific investment casting processes to meet required customer specification, quality and production goals. 
  • Responsible for investment casting process improvements including elimination of defects such as cracks, shrinkage, grain defects and the improvement of metal utilization.
  • Develop casting processes, define controls and develop solutions to process related programs.
  • Coordinates with product engineer, production engineers, supervisors and employees and the metallurgical laboratory.
  • Communicate with customers on metallurgical issues.
  • Prepare process approval packages on developmental jobs or revised processes.
  • Provide hands on, floor level investigations and problem solving
  • Respond as necessary on the off shift to advise on and provide solutions to process problems.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers, supervisors, and peers.
  • Accept special projects as assigned.
