Wyman-Gordon is a worldwide supplier to the aerospace and industrial gas turbine markets. We hold quality accreditations for all of the major airframe and engine manufacturers for both civil and military applications. Wyman-Gordon creates rotating closed-die forgings which are critical for aerospace and land-based gas turbines.  Wyman-Gordon also manufactures structural forgings for airframe, nuclear, petrochemical, power generation, and space applications.

 

Location Profile

Located in South Gate, Dickson Testing Company, Inc. is a full-service destructive testing laboratory serving aerospace and metallic producers worldwide. Our laboratories serve our customers with metallurgical, mechanical, corrosion, and chemical testing services. In support of these services our facility provides complete specimen fabrication, cut off services and heat treat capability.                  

 

Position Summary

Level one Maintenance Techs, working under direct supervision, will perform basic duties such as preventative maintenance of equipment, ensuring cleanliness, moving, inspecting, cleaning, using hand tools, using measuring instruments and other general duties to maintain both equipment and buildings. No experience necessary but evidence of strong mechanical aptitude required.

  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.

  • All functions, duties and tasks are to be carried out safely in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with Company policies and procedures. When in doubt about the task or the policies, clarify with supervisor prior to performing task.
  • As part of the maintenance team, ensures equipment and buildings are kept in good working condition using preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Work with mechanical machinery that use motors, pumps, cylinders, belts, brushes, relays, fuses, crank shafts, fans, chains, bearings, wheels, as well as other mechanical features.
  • Work with hydraulics, compressed air, water, coolants and other lubrications and liquids.
  • Work with extreme high temperature furnaces, thermocouples, heaters, ceramic insulation, conduit.
  • Work with electrical devices, motor control, motion control, temperature control, gauges, valves, relays, and more.
  • Work with A/C units, air cleaning units, bathrooms, sinks, plumbing, water, lights.
  • General construction, mig welding, gas torching, sweating, threading and gluing of piping.
  • Keeps machinery areas clean.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills

  • Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all employees, guests, service providers, etc.
  • Ability to work independently but also as part of the team.
  • Able to read prints a plus. Ability to learn to read prints a must.
  • Ability to read, write and do basic math. Understanding of fractions and formulas a plus.
  • Must have a forklift license or have a valid driver’s license and then able to pass a forklift test to be forklift certified.
  • Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.

 

Experience & Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • College degree or certificate from a technical school in a related field is preferred but not required.
  • 0-1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
