PCC Airfoils, LLC, headquartered in Greater Cleveland, Ohio, is a world leader in the fast-paced, high-tech industry of investment casting. The Ceramics Group segment of PCC Airfoils and consists of three manufacturing locations - Wickliffe, Ohio, which also serves as Ceramics headquarters, Cleveland, Ohio, and Sanford, NC.  The Ceramics Group operations supply ceramic cores and proprietary custom blended ceramic particulate systems used in the manufacturing of the investment castings. Products and systems manufactured in these operations include: custom blended ceramic shell systems, injection molded silica and alumina cores for investment cast airfoils, slurry cast cores for land-based turbine casting applications and ceramic extrusions. The operations are expanding due to sales volume increase and this provides unique opportunities for career growth and development.


The Materials Engineer will create innovative solutions for mixes used in the manufacturing of ceramic cores. In this role, you will also champion new technologies to address current capability issues and develop new products and process.
  • Lead the development of new core bodies for Ceramics Group (ex. Wax Binder, High Pressure and Low-Pressure formulations).
  • Solve material related issues for all customers.
  • Collaborate with division resources on new technologies related to core materials.
  • Improve production techniques and develop test procedures.
  • Assesses customer needs regarding priorities, deadlines, and quantities; Interacts with customers.
  • Confers with the engineering and operation teams to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demand for new and existing products.
  • Provides support and guidance to the production departments on new concepts and technical issues.
  • Creates blended material formulation recipes for production
  • Troubleshoots material formulation equipment
  • Ensures operator adherence to procedures
  • Orders and maintains inventory of raw material
  • Writes and modifies procedures to document current practices and improvements
  • May assist in shipping logistics to customers


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Materials engineering.
