MISSION:

 

The primary responsibility of this position is to perform actual inspector audits, outgoing quality audits, system performance audits, NADCAP audits, stamp audits and certification audits.  Other responsibilities include but not limited to customer complaints due to NDT issues, perform investigations on inspector escapers, perform eye examinations, perform Engineering Evaluations, assist in on-the-job training of new inspectors and cost reduction projects.  They must work closely with the Responsible Level 3 and take direction on course of action due to the above breakdown in specification requirements.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

  1. Perform outgoing quality audits for Visual Inspection, Dimensional Inspection, Film X-Ray inspection, Digital X-Ray inspection and Penetrant inspection and magnetic particle inspection.
  2. Perform Engineering evaluations to provide detailed information on casting quality for internal and external Customers’ use.
  3. Perform at least one annual assessment audit of every shooter, reader, FPI inspector and every FPI processer, magnetic particle inspector.
  4. Perform or assist in the investigation of all customer escapes and concerns within 48 hours of notification from the quality department.
  5. Write reports for Quality on the actual results of escape instigations.
  6. Perform annual eye exams.
  7. Perform annual or semiannual process audits for FPI, x-ray and digital x-ray, visual, dimensional, magnetic particle.
  8. Assist with NADCAP audit.
  9. Assist NDT trainers when they are out on vacation or other functions.
  10. Perform stamp audits.
  11. Must interface with customers in a professional manner.
  12. Identify potential areas of cost reductions.
  13. Be able to assist manufacturing during end of quarter requirements for throughput.
  14. Write and assist at administering root cause and corrective action forms.
  15. Perform root cause and corrective actions on breakdowns in process requirements
  16. Performing grain etch evaluation and reporting.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Must be certified in at least 3 of the five disciplines in NDT (x-ray, digital x-ray, FPI, Visual Inspection, and Dimensional Inspection) with at least one being in x-ray.
  2. Must have taken and passed 8 hours of auditor training and perform 2 practice audits with a certified auditor/trainer.
  3. Must have at least 6-7 years of actual inspection time with very few escapes or quality issues.
  4. Considerable knowledge of and familiarity with NDT principles as well as a working knowledge of NDT methods other than those not currently used at the facility.
  5. Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  6. Ability to apply and adapt a wide variety of technical procedures under general direction and to complete work independently.
  7. Ability to develop x-ray, visual, dimensional and FPI work instructions.
  8. Ability to plan, schedule, evaluate and coordinate a wide variety of major projects.
  9. Maybe required to complete hazardous waste management training.
  10. Working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint computer programs.
