MISSION:

Responsible for the safe manufacture of company products which may represent a broad diversity of manufacturing processes. May supervise multiple functions and/or shifts typically but not exclusively through shift/department leads. May be responsible for the entirety department of production employees, numbers of and/or value of manufacturing machines, particularly in comparison to the span of control of an Area Manager. And other duties as assigned. 

Manufacturing Expertise

Demonstrates a fundamental knowledge of and ability to apply PCC budgeting process and financial management tools. Demonstrates a fundamental knowledge of and ability to understand and apply the PCC planning process. Demonstrates fundamental knowledge of and ability to apply the PCC manufacturing processes in area of responsibility.  Demonstrates fundamental knowledge of and ability to apply “lean”, “TOC”, “interference management” and “NEI” processes in areas of responsibility.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Ensures compliance with legal requirements and company safety policies.
  2. Ensures that all employees work in a safe manner, maintain an injury free work environment, and that employees are properly trained in all safety procedures. Ensures that good housekeeping practices are consistently followed.
  3. Ensures effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development. Resolves employee issues through problem resolution.
  4. Responsible for adherence to process control procedures, operating instructions, and all quality control instructions.
  5. Plans, organizes, and supervises shift operations in accordance with production schedules and requirements in the most cost-effective manner. Responsible for process control in area of responsibility. Maintains awareness of policies and procedures and assures compliance by assigned employees.
  6. Ensures that thru-put attained and budget criteria is met or exceeded.
  7. Works with employees to effectively resolve workplace issues, gives necessary feedback on employee performance. Conducts formal performance appraisals, transfers, and promotions in accordance with company policy and procedures and state and federal laws.
  8. Interviews and hires (recommend hires) employees.
  9. Develops, trains, and involves employees in maintaining and improving departmental efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, cooperation, and morale.
  10. Maintains adequate staffing to meet required production schedules and inspection integrity.
  11. Assists with and provides input for annual budget for areas of responsibility. Thereafter, adheres to budget plans (Meets monthly budgets).
  12. Responsible for the staffing, training, feedback/accountability and improvements of the auditing staff and system.
  13. Responsible for leading Auditors and OSP Inspectors activities
  14. Responsible for feedback/accountability and improvements of OSP supporting facilities
  15. Responsible for creating Tech-cards for wax area (with a focus on cleaning though audit and OSP operations).   
  16. Responsible for keeping up progress logs and other shop floor documentation needed for the wax area.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school plus college level courses or equivalent training in manufacturing, accounting, mathematics and statistics or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s in engineering or Business preferred.
  2. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations and priorities.
  3. Requires that the incumbent be organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  4. Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others preferred.
  5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills or the ability to develop the skills required.
  6. Computer literate, particularly in spreadsheet; financial; inventory and production planning and tracking applications.
  7. Demonstrated ability to develop, execute and deliver results in conformance with action plans. 

COMPLETION OF AND ABILITY TO APPLY INFORMATION FROM HAZARDOUS WASTE TRAINING REQUIRED DUE TO POTENTIAL COORDINATION OF HAZARDOUS WASTE HANDLING IN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY.
