Position Summary:

Direct a group of warehouse, shipping and receiving personnel to receive, store, issue and ship work-in-process inventory to other departments or vendors and finished goods to customers. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and assign work within the area
  • Review receipts from Packing to determine shippable quantities including over-ship quantities.
  • Complete transactions to ship or locate all finished goods items.
  • Generate shipping papers using established procedures as required. Allocate on-hand inventory to customer requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of customer requirements such as bar coding, weight restriction, source inspection, carriers and modes of shipment.
  • Prepare weekly list of shipments by allowed shipping date.
  • Coordinate with Production Planning on critical items to ensure shipment on a timely basis.
  • Review credit holds before creating shipping papers when orders are released for shipment.
  • Coordinate conveyor and platform function, consolidating shipments by customer and carrier.
  • Prepare paperwork for bills of lading for Shipping Office.
  • .  Invoice customer orders in OP (Function K) for all UPS, RPS truck and air shipments.  Record inventory transactions to maintain accurate WIP reporting.  Record items with no requirements into special inventory for disposition by Sales. 
  • Coordinate certifica­tions with Lab. Prepare weekly stock dollars report for current month.
  • Ensure timely stocking of jobs from blanks. Maintain appropriate inventories of shipping cartons and supplies.
  • Process all customer returns on a timely basis.
  • Coordinate special requirements with Sales and Production Planning.
  • Instruct, train, demonstrate, direct, assist and advise as to methods, schedules, and procedures.
  • Promote harmoni­ous employee relations and recommend to supervision action regarding employee performance and violation of Company rules.

 

 

Required Skills:

  • Must have demonstrated proficiencies in skills and essential functions required for any shipping position as listed above.
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to work daily and weekend overtime when required, especially during heavy shipping periods.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of shipping papers, stock status reports, customer specifications, bounce reports, over-run cards, method sheets, on-line systems, verbal instructions.
  • Must be able to communicate well with others in the department and personnel on other shifts.
  • Knowledge of SPS mainframe a must such as shop floor control, order processing, QC system, Purchasing system, etc. Must know how to navigate websites such as GE and Pratt & Whitney. Knowledge of MicroSoft, especially Excel, a necessity.
  • Must be capable of frequently moving heavy workloads between 25-50lbs.

 

Required Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years in Shipping expected

 

Level of Education:

  • High School diploma or GED is expected.
