They will use a CMM to conduct these inspections and will additionally be required to use conventional methods of inspection as well in preparation for or in support of CMM inspections. These CMM inspections may be carried out at any phase of the manufacturing/assembly process. CMM Inspectors will maintain required inspection documentation, generate and maintain reports and provide accurate evidence of the results of their inspections on ADI planning/work order documents. They will compile and evaluate statistical data in order to determine and maintain the quality of products provided the organization’s customers. They will do all of the above in accordance with ADI’s established standards, procedures and engineering requirements.
Position Accountabilities:
Select items for inspection at specified (in work order/planning documents) stages of the production flow.
Inspect items for their compliance to dimensional, and mechanical characteristics and may occasionally or frequently (as part of their requirement to conduct conventional inspections) verify electrical and/or chemical characteristics.
Record and evaluate inspection reports and test data applying statistical quality control techniques.
Perform interim and first article inspections of both product and the tooling required to build product using the CMM.
Maintain records and pertinent documentation as required.
Create the complex programs used to drive the CMM’s used to inspect items.

- Perform geometrical calculations and understand the principles of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance.
- Demonstrate the ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and standards.
- Some CMM Inspectors will occasionally or frequently (as part of their requirement to conduct conventional inspections) be required to possess and demonstrate the ability to use mechanical measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers and height gages and will also occasionally or frequently (as part of their requirement to conduct conventional inspections) be required to use hardness and conductivity measuring tools, perform manual inspections on surface plates or perform layout operations in support of manufacturing processes.
- Ability to confer with engineering in order to determine what specific inspection techniques or tactics will be best applied to guarantee and document the requirements of the customer.
