Special Metals is the world leader in the invention, production and supply of high-nickel alloys for critical engineering.
The largest facility of its type in the world, our Huntington division offers a 130-acre operational footprint exclusively devoted to the development, production and sale of nickel alloys.  
Performs complex assignments in the administration of compensation and benefits programs.   Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends. Serves as the HR generalist for the SMC Division office.

Access survey databases to benchmark existing and new positions throughout the organization.

Participates in salary surveys.

Administers the annual merit budget process.

Participates in the administration of various employee benefit programs, such as health, life, accident and disability insurance, and other benefits such as the 401(k) retirement plan.

Assists with benefits marketing and/or renewal process and annual open enrollment.

Prepare Cobra rates and assist with the Cobra open enrollment.

Coordinate, consolidate, investigate and update new employee’s FSA elections.

Implements new benefit programs and assists Human Resources staff at SMC operations with employee benefit meetings and presentations.

Serves as a liaison with outside insurance carriers or other agencies relative to compensation and benefits programs.

Prepares or assists in the preparation of summary plan descriptions, certificates, plan amendments and plan documents.

Maintains compensation and benefit records and documents.

Prepares and reviews invoice from vendors before preparing for payment.

Leads the SMC wellness program.

Administers the SMC relocation program including preparing year-end payroll entries.

Manages the SMC leased vehicle fleet.

Ensures own work and processes comply with all federal, state and local legal requirement by staying informed of existing and new legislation and enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.

Prepares compensation and benefit reports using HRIS systems and other means.

Protects organization’s values by keeping information confidential.

Accomplishes all tasks as appropriate.

Counsels with and advises employees on their eligibility for various benefits.

Resolves administrative problems with carrier representatives.

Prepare affirmative action information for SMC operations, as needed.

Assists with the preparation for Forms 5500 and distribution of Summary Annual Reports.

Responsible for the HR Intranet and SharePoint sites.

Conducts and participates in audits of benefit programs.

Coordinates human resources processes for Division new hires, terminations and open enrollment.

Division FMLA/STD contact.

Performs Division background checks, drug test scheduling, and e-verify.

Responsible for preparing information for employee’s W-2 medical reporting.

Backup for month-end payroll reporting and weekly 401(k) funding.

Acts as a resource across the Division for those with less experience.

Process Fidelity changes/updates for all location including approving hardship and in-service withdrawals.

FSA Reconciliation.

Performs other duties as assigned.

At least eight (8) years of experience in human resources or accounting required. Compensation and/or benefits administration experience preferred.
